Nervous About Your Cat Boarding With Us?
Xopaws Catsitting Has the Experience to Help Nervous Cats Feel at Home
If your cat has never stayed at a cat boarding facility before, it is completely understandable to feel nervous about how they will react.
You may be wondering:
Will my cat be scared?
Will they hide the whole time?
Will they eat?
Will they settle in?
Will they miss me?
As an experienced cat sitter in Dubai, I understand these concerns very well.
I have been caring for cats for over 15 years, and one thing I have learned is that every cat needs time to adjust to a new environment.
Some cats walk through the door and immediately make themselves at home.
Others need a little more time.
And that is perfectly normal.
Your Cat May Hide at First — And That’s Okay!
When a cat arrives at Xopaws Catsitting for the first time, especially if they have never experienced cat boarding in Dubai before, they may feel nervous and unsure.
They may hide.
They may stay in one particular spot.
They may be very quiet.
They may not immediately want cuddles or interaction.
I don’t force them.
Instead, I give them the space and time they need to adjust.
I let them explore when they are ready and allow them to come to me when they feel comfortable.
I believe patience is one of the most important qualities a good cat sitter can have.
Give Them 2–3 Days to Settle In
In my experience, many new furry guests need around 2–3 days to really settle into their new surroundings.
The first couple of days can be the most difficult.
Your cat doesn’t know where they are yet.
They don’t know me.
They don’t know the sounds and smells of our home.
And they don’t understand that you are coming back for them.
So hiding is often their way of coping with the change.
But something wonderful usually starts to happen once they realise:
This place is safe.
It’s quiet.
I’m not being bothered.
There are no strange cats around me.
There is food, water, a comfortable place to sleep and someone who is taking care of me.
Little by little, they begin to come out.
They start exploring.
They start accepting treats.
They may start playing.
Then perhaps they come closer to me.
And before long, I often see their real personality come out.
A Calm Environment Makes a Difference
At Xopaws Catsitting, we only accommodate one cat family booking at a time.
This is especially helpful for cats who are nervous or easily overwhelmed.
Your cat doesn’t have to adjust to a busy room filled with unfamiliar cats.
They aren’t constantly surrounded by the sights, sounds and scents of lots of other cats.
Instead, they stay with us in our home and can enjoy a peaceful, private and home-style cat boarding environment in Dubai.
I can give them the time, space and individual attention they need to feel comfortable.
I Understand Cat Behaviour
Over the years, I have become very good at reading cats.
I pay attention to their body language and behaviour and try to understand what they are communicating to me.
Sometimes a cat is saying:
“Please give me some space.”
Sometimes they are saying:
“I’m ready for attention now.”
And sometimes they are very clearly saying:
“Where are my treats?”
I listen!
This is why some of my previous clients have affectionately called me the “Cat Whisperer.”
They have noticed something that makes me incredibly happy — their cats often seem completely normal and comfortable when they stay with me.
“My Cat Is Actually Acting Normal!”
One of the most reassuring things previous owners have told me is how surprised they are when they see their cat’s behaviour during their stay.
They tell me:
“My cat looks so normal!”
“I’ve never seen them so comfortable away from home.”
“They look like they are enjoying themselves!”
For a cat parent, I know how reassuring that must be.
When you are away from your cat, you want to know that they are not sitting somewhere frightened and unhappy.
You want to see them relaxing.
You want to see them eating.
You want to see them playing.
You want to see their personality.
And that is exactly what I want to give you through the daily photos and videos I send while your cat is staying with me.
I Never Rush a Nervous Cat
Every cat is different.
I will never expect a nervous cat to behave like a confident cat on their first day.
If they want to hide, I give them a safe space to hide.
If they want to observe me from a distance, that’s fine.
If they don’t want cuddles yet, I wait.
If they finally decide to come out at 2am and explore the apartment, that’s perfectly fine too!
My job is to make them feel secure enough that they can eventually choose to come out on their own.
Trust takes time.
And when a nervous cat finally decides that I am safe, it is incredibly rewarding.
From Hiding to Asking for Cuddles
One of my favourite parts of being a cat sitter in Dubai is watching this transformation happen.
A cat may arrive nervous and hide away.
Then they start coming out for food.
Then they investigate the cat tree.
Then they discover the treats.
Then they start playing.
Then they sit closer.
And suddenly…
I’m getting head bumps and asking for cuddles!
That is when I know they have started to feel at home.
Your Cat Is in Experienced Hands
I know how precious your cat is to you.
I know that choosing cat boarding in Dubai can feel like a huge decision, especially if your cat has never stayed away from home before.
That’s why I take the time to understand each cat individually.
With more than 25 years of cat sitting experience, I have learned that patience, observation, consistency and understanding are just as important as food, water and a comfortable bed.
Your cat needs to feel safe before they can relax.
And I am happy to give them the time they need.
Nervous Cat? Don’t Worry — Let Me Be Their Cat Whisperer!
If your cat is shy, nervous or has never experienced home-based cat boarding in Dubai before, please don’t automatically assume they won’t cope.
They may simply need time.
Give them 2–3 days to adjust.
Give them a calm environment.
Give them space.
And give them someone who understands cats.
That’s what I provide at Xopaws Catsitting.
My goal is not to force your cat to settle in.
My goal is to make them feel safe enough to settle in naturally.
And when your nervous little furry guest finally comes out of hiding, starts exploring, accepts a treat and curls up comfortably in our home…
That’s when I know I’ve done my job.
